| REVIEW >>> | Man mag Nouvelle Vague vorwerfen, dass sie sich mit ihrem neuen Album Band à part nicht sonderlich weiterentwickelt haben. Schließlich halten sich Marc Collin und Olivier Libaux getreu an das Konzept, das schon beim Vorgänger so gut funktioniert hat: Nämlich Klassiker des New Wave zu covern und daraus luftig-verträumten Jazz, Samba und Bossa zu spinnen. Aber erstens gelingt dies mit Songs wie Escape Myself ein weiteres Mal auf wundervolle Weise und zweitens gibt es doch einen grundlegend neuen Impuls, indem man diesmal freier agiert und sich mutig von den Vorlagen emanzipiert. Oder wie es das französische Duo ausdrückt: „Wir wählen die Songs danach aus, ob sie uns inspirieren. Danach, ob es uns gelingt, eine Stimmung herauszuarbeiten und dem Original etwas zu geben, was es vorher nicht hatte.“ (ke)
